The Gun and Spitroast is an historic 16th century coaching inn, overlooking the village green of Horsmonden, in the heart of the Kent weald. Our family-owned pub and restaurant is the perfect place to relax and children are always welcome. Come and try our fantastic home-cooked food, great range of beers and wines and enjoy the atmosphere of a traditional country inn.
Our Bar
The comfortable bar area decorated with Kentish hops is especially cozy in the winter months, when we light our wood-burning stove and draw the curtains. It’s a great place to relax, have a meal and sample some of our well-kept beers or perhaps a glass of wine from our extensive list.
Our Restaurant
We use our famous inglenook spitroast to cook our locally sourced meats over an apple wood fire. This gives our meats their distinctive smoked flavour. Our chef also prepares a wide range of freshly cooked traditional country food classics and special a la carte options from our seasonal menu. Vegetarians and children are very welcome and always catered for.

Situated in the heart of the Kent Weald, only 10 minutes drive from the A21 and 20 minutes drive from the historic spa town of Tunbridge Wells, the Gun and Spitroast is ideally located for a short break or for people travelling for business. Our patio garden is the perfect place to enjoy a lunch away from the office or to meet your friends or family whilst breathing in the fresh Weald air and the smell of our many rose bushes or our orange blossom.
